The Cleveland Indians look to stay hot with another win against the defending champs as the Kansas City Royals invade Progressive Field.
The Royals look to rebound after a tough loss in Cleveland last night and they will send Ian Kennedy to the mound in hopes of getting there as he will face off against he surprising Josh Tomlin who is an impressive 7-1 to start the season. Kansas City retained a large portion of their core from a season ago and should be right in the mix for the AL Central division crown again this season but this Indians team is really making things interesting as they trail the Royals by juts a half game in the division standings and could very well go up by that same margin by the end of the day. Kennedy will look to improve on his 4-3 record and bring down his very respectable 3.03 ERA while Tomlin can earn his eighth win if the Tribe can get a repeat from yesterday.

The Indians meanwhile continue to surprise everyone in the AL Central and after a convincing win yesterday with Danny Salazar on the bump they are feeling very good heading into today’s show down with Tomlin getting the ball. Those two pitchers combined with the flame thrower in Corey Kluber gives the Tribe a very solid front end that rivals many in baseball and if they can sustain this pace at the plate and eventually add in Michael Brantley they will be a very interesting team to watch throughout the season and we could very well see them back in the playoffs this season.
The Royals are 8-1 in their last nine games following a loss in which they gave up five runs or more, 6-1 in their last seven overall following a loss, and 5-1 in Kennedy’s last six while the Indians are 5-0 in their last five against the AL Central, 6-1 in Tomlin’s last seven home starts, and 10-1 in his last 11 against the AL Central. KC continues to get great value and while we were on the Indians and Salazar yesterday I think the Royals even things up with a win on Saturday as Tomlin is overachieving right now.
