The Boston Red Sox head cross country to face the San Francisco Giants in interleague action Tuesday.
The Boston Red Sox had been flying high as they were sitting atop the American League East before suffering through defeats in four of five. The Red Sox come off of a 5-4 loss to surging Toronto where they were no hit for seven frames before a 9th inning rally came up just short. Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez was hit hard with all five runs on four homers over 5.2 frames to drop to 1-1. The Boston offense finished with six hits and three walks with Chris Young smacking a solo homer while Hanley Ramirez doubled in a run and scored. The Red Sox send Rick Porcello to the hill to oppose San Francisco for the first time since 2014. Porcello has struggled the past two times out with nine runs allowed on 13 hits including four homers in 12.2 innings.

The San Francisco Giants return home after spending the last two weeks on the road where they played around .500 baseball. The Giants have dropped back to back contests following a 6-3 defeat at St. Louis on Sunday where they led 3-1 in the 6th. SF starter Jake Peavy was charged with four runs on five hits and two free passes through five innings to fall to 2-6. San Francisco was held to six hits and three walks with Jarrett Parker smacking a two run bomb while Brandon Crawford knocked in his 31st. San Francisco hands the ball to Albert Suarez for his second career start with Boston in town. Suarez did not receive a decision in his only start which was a 5-4 loss at Atlanta with three runs plated on three hits and two BB in five frames.
Boston are 8-2 in their last 10 interleague games and the over is 14-6-3 in their last 23 on grass while going 14-6 in their last 20 Tuesday games. The under is 8-1 in San Francisco’s last 9 Tuesday games and the Giants are 18-6 in their last 24 overall while going 18-6 in their last 24 games on grass. I don’t know what to expect from the pitching so maybe the over…
