The Toronto Blue Jays look to make up ground on the visiting Baltimore Orioles in Saturday action.
The Baltimore Orioles have regained the top spot in the American League East with contributions from all areas. Despite Friday’s 4-3, ten inning loss at Toronto on Friday the Orioles have still won seven of eleven. O’s starter Kevin Gausman was charged with three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 6.1 frames before Brad Brach served up a solo jack in the 10th to absorb the loss. The Birds mustered four hits and five walks with Chris Davis slamming a two run homer while Jonathan Schoop went solo. Mike Wright toes the rubber for the second time versus the Blue Jays Saturday. Wright was at his best in a 4-1 victory over Kansas City with an unearned run given up on five hits over seven innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays were the hottest team in the American League East a few short weeks ago but have slowed recently. The Blue Jays haven’t been playing all that well so they hopefully can build on their series opening win versus the division leading Orioles. Jays starter Marco Estrada gave up all three runs on four hits and four free passes through six innings with three relievers holding Baltimore off the scoreboard. Toronto had chances on ten hits and three walks with Edwin Encarnacion and Michael Saunders smacking long balls. Left hander JA Happ is scheduled for Saturday’s start against visiting Baltimore Saturday. Happ was an 11-0 loser at Detroit last time out with six runs scored on six hits including two homers in five frames.
The over is 7-2 in Baltimore’s last 9 Saturday games and the over is 9-4-1 in their last 14 overall. The over is 10-3-2 in Toronto’s last 15 Saturday games and the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 overall while going 25-9 in Happ’s last 34 on astroturf. The Orioles are 22-50 in the last 72 meetings in Toronto. I don’t care for this one but perhaps something on the over for an interest…
