The Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves look to continue their slug fest on Thursday afternoon after the teams went to extra innings last night at Turner Field.
The Reds look to keep the bats swinging as they face off against the lowly Braves once again on Thursday afternoon and they will send the surprising Dan Straily to the bump who will face off against Matt WIsler. Cincy hasn’t fared too well this season despite having some pretty nice pieces in place and while they did lose Todd Frazier and Aroldis Chapman to off season moves they still have former MVP Joey Votto, outfielder Jay Bruce, and the surging Adam Duvall who has been brilliant this season and is breaking onto the scene as a 28-year-old. The Reds though will still have trouble qualifying for the playoffs as they are in a division with the Cubs who have been absolutely ridiculous this season and while the rest of the division has struggled at times I don’t see the Reds being able to mount a charge.

The Braves meanwhile are having an absolute nightmare of a season and sit in dead last in the National League and without much beyond Freddie Freeman when it comes to power at the plate they are going to struggle to find ways to win this season. Atlanta does have some nice pieces in place but they are by no means a playoff contender this season and have holes all over the diamond that seem to be getting exposed on a daily basis. Atlanta did have a nice outing offensively yesterday but those have been few and far between and might be tough to come by against Straily.
Cincinnati is 5-1 in their last six in the NL East, 4-1 in their last five overall, and 2-14 in their last 16 during game four of a series while the Braves are 6-26 in their last 32 games against a starter with a WHIP lower than 1.15, 5-17 in WIsler’s last 22 starts, and 14-37 in their last 51 overall. Cincy isn’t great but Atlanta is worse and I think Straily adds to his win total today.
