The Chicago Cubs have been the best team in baseball and are trying to pull away from the rest of the National League Central. The Cubs look to get back in the win column after Wednesday’s 5-4, 12 inning defeat at Washington. Cubbies starter Jason Hammel held the dangerous Nationals to a run through seven innings before Trevor Cahill blew a 4-3 lead in the 12th with two runs allowed to fall to 0-2. Chicago totaled eleven hits and three walks with Anthony Rizzo cracking a two run homer while Ben Zobrist went solo. The Cubs open the series on the hill with 10-1 Jake Arrieta who picked up an 8-2 win at Atlanta last time out with both runs given up in seven frames.
The over is 15-5-1 in Pittsburgh’s last 21 Friday games and the Pirates are 40-17 in their last 57 Friday games. The under is 10-1 in the Cubs last 11 home games and the Cubs are 7-1 in their last 8 Friday games while Chicago are 47-18 in their last 65 home games. Pittsburgh are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings and the under is 6-2-1 in Arrieta’s last 9 starts versus the Pirates. Just going with the team that’s playing better…
