The Texas Rangers look to continue their winning ways as they stay in St. Louis to battle the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
The Rangers got a massive 1-0 win on the road against the Cards last night in what was one of their guttier wins of the season as they continue to prove they are one of the favourites in the American League and with another interleague triumph here they will be sitting pretty heading into Sunday afternoon. Texas will send Nicholas Martinez to the bump as he will go up against his name sake in Carlos Martinez in a matchup that favours the home side but with the potent lineup of the Rangers still intact here they should never be counted out as they have one of the deepest and hardest hitting lineups in baseball.

The Cardinals meanwhile are a far cry from the team that has dominated the AL Central over the last handful of seasons and while they may have passed the torch on to the Cubs and Pirates they are still a team to watch out for as they have a deep roster and a solid rotation. The Cards are but 35-31 on the season though and are a modest 15-19 at Busch Stadium this season which is a cause for concern, especially against a solid Rangers team who is 19-15 on the road and will be out to grab another victory behind another stellar pitching effort.
The Rangers are 10-1 in their last 11 in which they allow two or less runs in their previous game, 13-3 in their last 16 against a team with a winning record, and 5-1 in their last six interleague games while the Cards are 1-5 in their last six interleague home games, 5-1 in their last six game two’s of a series, and 4-0 in their last four Saturday games. This should be a tightly contested series and while the Rangers got the win on Friday I like the Cards to rebound as they have the edge on the mound.
