The Chicago White Sox look to shake off a terrible outing yesterday as they continue their series at Progressive Field against the Cleveland Indians.
The White Sox made a push to improve their rotation earlier this month when they acquired James Shields from the San Diego Padres but so far that experiment has been an absolute nightmare as he was shelled yesterday in what was a 13-2 final for the home side in this AL Central show down. The South Siders were off to a red hot start and were looking like the dark horse team many expected them to be but right now they are a mess and are a game under the .500 mark and are four games back of the Indians in the division standings. Chicago will look to fix things up on Sunday as they send Carlos Rodon to the mound who will face off against Carlos Carrasco who will look to find his form after a couple of tough outing.

The Indians have been a pleasant surprise this season and continue to find ways to win baseball games despite being without one of the games best five tool hitters in Michael Brantley and without a very deep roster. Cleveland’s bread and butter coming into this season was going to be their starting rotation as Corey Kluber, Carrasco, and Danny Salazar form one of the best three headed monsters in the Majors and will be a tough tandem to get through come playoff time. Carrasco is 2-2 with a 3.40 ERA and will look to improve on that while Rodon is a disappointing 2-6 with a 4.28 mark that will have to come down if the Sox are going to right the ship soon.
Chicago is 3-13 in their last 16 against he AL Central, 1-7 in Rodon’s last eight starts, and 0-4 in his last four road starts while the Indians are 6-0 in their last six home games, 8-3 in their last 11 against the AL Central, and 5-2 in Carrasco’s last seven home starts. While I do like the White Sox moving forward, especially if they can get another piece in the lineup I don’t like them here as Carrasco is a top end pitcher and will be out to prove his worth here.
