First meets first when the East leading Baltimore Orioles visit the West leading Texas Rangers Monday.
It’s easier said then done but the Baltimore Orioles need consistent hitting and pitching to ward off the rest of the American League East. The Orioles were certainly consistent at the plate Sunday with an 11-6 victory versus visiting Toronto. O’s starter Chris Tillman was charged with four runs on five hits including a pair of long balls. The story of the game was the Birds offense that hammered out 19 hits with Matt Weiters and Jonathan Schoop going deep with seven RBI’s and five runs. Ryan Flaherty knocked in two more with every starter but one reaching base. The Orioles send Kevin Gausman to the hill to oppose the dangerous Rangers on Monday night. Gausman comes off a 6-4 defeat at Boston with all six runs scored on seven hits and two BB over three innings.

The Rangers scored a 5-4 win at Busch Sunday with starter Martin Perez allowing all four runs through 5.1 innings with three relievers putting up zeros. Texas totaled ten hits with Mitch Moreland going solo with Nomar Mazara going deep and driving in two while Jurickson Profar singled in two in the 8th. The Rangers are slated to start Derek Holland against visiting Baltimore on Monday. Holland has struggled the past two times out with ten runs scored on nine hits including four homers in 8.2 frames.
Baltimore are 7-2 in their last 9 games on grass and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 road games. Texas are 22-6 in their last 28 overall and are 51-22 in their last 73 home games while going 37-16 in their last 53 games on grass. It seems Texas can do no wrong although the Orioles are far better then St. Louis…
