The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox meet at Fenway Park in Wednesday action.
The once high flying Chicago White Sox have slumped to 4th in the American League Central and are now fighting to reach .500. Perhaps the White Sox have taken a step in the right direction with a 3-1 decision at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night. CWS ace Chris Sale was dominant with the lone run plated on four hits while whiffing nine over seven frames to improve to 12-2. Chicago produced six hits and two walks with Tim Anderson and Todd Frazier smacking solo bombs. The White Sox are slated to send left hander Jose Quintana to the bump to challenge Boston for the second time this year. Quintana comes off of a 3-2 (ND) loss at Cleveland with both runs given up on seven hits over 7.2 innings.

The Boston Red Sox have been playing around .500 baseball over the last few weeks which has been good enough to hold on to second in the American League East. The Red Sox lost a game in the standings with Tuesday’s defeat where the offense had trouble with Chris Sale. Boston starter Clay Buchholtz gave up all three runs on four hits including a pair of long balls to fall to 3-7. The Red Sox attack consisted of six hits and a pair of bases on balls with Mookie Betts driving in Travis Shaw with the lone run. Eduardo Rodriguez toes the rubber against the White Sox for the first time in his career. Rodriguez has struggled the past two times out with nine runs allowed on 14 hits and six BB in nine frames.
The under is 9-2 in the White Sox last 11 Wednesday games and the White Sox are 7-18 in their last 25 overall while going 7-18 in their last 25 games on grass. Boston are 8-3 in their last 11 Wednesday games and are 8-3 in Rodriguez’s last 11 home starts. If Quintana can get some rare support I think he can get the job run…
