Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers butt heads at Comerica Park on Wednesday.
The Seattle Mariners face an uphill battle to catch surging Texas in the American League West. The Mariners continued to struggle in a 4-2 defeat at Comerica Park for their 8th loss in eleven contests. M’s starter James Paxton was charged with all four runs on eleven hits and a trio of BB over 7.2 frames to absorb the loss. Seattle mustered eight hits and walked twice with Kyle Seager slamming two run homer that scored Robinson Cano. The Mariners give Wednesday’s start to Hisashi Iwakuma who opposes the Tigers for the first tie in 2016. Iwakuma defeated Boston 8-4 last time out with all four runs plated over seven innings.

The Detroit Tigers can ill afford a skid of any length or they will not challenge in the American League Central. The Tigers have won back to back contests following Tuesday’s victory in what they hope is just the start of things to come. The Tigers pounded out eleven hits and coaxed a trio of free passes with Nick Castellanos going 2-4 with an RBI and a run with four players scoring and driving in runs. The Tigers are slated to start Michael Fulmer for the first time versus the Mariners on Wednesday. Fulmer has been rock stead all season with a 7-2 record with a 1.18 WHIP and 2.43 ERA.
Seattle are 2-8 in their last 10 road games and are 2-7 in their last 9 overall while the over is 15-7-1 in their last 23 on grass. The over is 19-7-4 in Detroit’s last 30 home games and Detroit are 7-1 in Fulmer’s last 8 starts while going 7-1 in Fulmer’s last 8 starts on grass. I like Fulmer especially if he wins this…
