The San Francisco Giants look to stay hot as they head into Pittsburgh to battle the Pirates in a Thursday matinee affair.
The Giants look to build on their 7-6 win victory over the Pirates last night as they face off with them once again at PNC Park on Thursday afternoon in a show down between Albert Suarez and Jonathan Niese. San Francisco continues to be the class of the National League West and will look to continue their streak of winning the World Series on even years as they have won three crown in successive two year blocks starting in 2010 and carrying over into 2012 and 2014 and have a very real shot at keeping that trend afloat as they might be the biggest threat to the Cubs and Nationals to win the National League crown. San Fran has a pretty solid roster led by Madison Bumgarner at the front end but it is the middle of the pack that has kept this team afloat and if they can get continued production out of guys like Suarez they are going to be tough to slow down.

The Pirates meanwhile have had a very disappointing start to the season as they are 34-37 thus far and have fallen well back of the pack in the NL Central and will have to resort to a wild card berth at best as the Cubs are running away with the division right now. Pittsburgh still has a very solid roster and doesn’t make much sense that they are so far back as guys like Gregory Polanco, Josh Harrison, and Andrew McCutcheon are still in the lineup but it has been the struggles of the latter that has been highlighted as the one time MVP has been very weak this season. The Bucs need to get back on track in a hurry and a win here against a quality Giants side could go a long way in getting them back on track and with some of the Giants labouring with injury it could be a chance to pounce as some regulars may be out of the lineup for the afternoon affair.
The Giants are 6-1 in their last seven road games against a lefty, 21-5 in their last 26 against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and 36-16 in their last 52 overall while the Pirates are 5-16 in their last 21 overall, 3-13 in their last 16 against a righty, and 0-5 in their last five home games against a righty. Pittsburgh looked good at the plate yesterday but their pitching has let them down and while Niese has been good I think the Giants get to him here as they earn another big road win.
