The Philadelphia Phillies travel to the west coast to open a series with the San Francisco Giants.
The Philadelphia Phillies have been struggling to get both their arms and bats on the same page and the losses have been piling up. The Phillies received both Thursday in a 7-3 victory at Target Field that snapped a nine game slide. Phils starter Jerad Eickhoff was at the top of his game with a pair of runs plated (one earned) on five hits over six frames to pick up the victory. Philadelphia amassed 15 hits and six walks with Ryan Howard smacking a solo homer while Freddy Galvis homered and drove in five runs on a 2-3 effort. The Phillies are slated to send rookie Zach Eflin to the hill to face San Francisco for his third career start. Eflin comes off of a 5-2 loss to Arizona where he gave up two runs on four hits and two BB over 5.2 innings.

The Giants totaled nine hits and walked twice with Mac Williamson going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Joe Panik smacked a bases loaded triple. San Francisco opens the series with Philadelphia with Jake Peavy on the hill. Peavy is shooting for back to back wins after a 5-1 victory at Tampa Bay with a run scored on four hits in six frames.
