In Friday MLB action, the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Ranger will be kicking off a great weekend series at Globe Life Park.
The Red Sox are coming off a four-game set against the White Sox this week. Boston dropped the first three by a total of six runs, then on Thursday the Red Sox prevented the sweep with a 10-inning, 8-7 win.
As for the Rangers, they played two games against the Reds this week. Texas dropped the first one 8-2, but won the second 6-4.

Boston will be whipping out left-hander David Price on Friday. In his 15 games and 8-4 record this year, Price has put up a 4.24 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP in 99.2 innings. On Sunday in a 2-1 win over the Mariners, Price allowed one run on eight hits in eight innings.
The Red Sox have a glut of talent at the plate. Xander Bogaerts leads the team on 106 hits, 56 runs and 50 RBI. Bogaerts had two hits and an RBI on Thursday. Mookie Betts has hit 92 times with 64 runs, 15 homers and 51 RBI. David Ortiz has 82 hits with 31 runs, 18 homers and 60 RBI.
RHP Nick Martinez will be taking the hill for the Rangers on Friday. Over three appearances (one start) and a 1-1 record this year, Martinez has managed a 5.14 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP in seven innings of work. Martinez gave up three runs on six hits in 4.1 innings against the Cardinals on Saturday.
The Rangers are rolling pretty well this year at the plate. Ian Desmond heads the team on 89 hits with 52 runs, 12 homers and 47 RBI. Nomar Mazara has 72 hits to his credit with 30 runs, 11 homers and 30 RBI. Rougned Odor holds 71 hits with 46 runs, 13 homers and 34 RBI.
The Red Sox are 9-2 in their last 11 against the American League West, and 1-6 in their last seven Friday games. Boston is also 0-4 in their last four games against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30, and 5-2 in Price’s last seven starts with four days’ rest.
As for the Rangers, they’re 5-1 in their last six games against a left-handed starter, and 37-16 in their last 53 overall. Texas is also 53-23 in their last 76 home games, and 3-7 in Martinez’s last 10 starts.
This should be a great matchup, but I like Price a little better than I do Martinez right now. Give me the Red Sox for the win.
