Camden Yards and the Baltimore Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays in game two of their twin bill Saturday.
The Tampa Bay Rays are 5th in the American League East but they are still well within striking distance of the division lead given we are not even at the All Star break so for the time being time is on their side. The problem with the Rays is they can be streaky with their bats going silent for long stretches while the work on the mound can falter for long periods as well. Both have been struggling for over a week right now and that means losing streaks and in this division a bad week or a good one can make you a contender or an also ran so just being consistent would make Tampa Bay a threat. Tampa Bay turns to Matt Andriese to start the second game of the DH at Baltimore. Andriese had been coming out of the bullpen recently and is 6-0 with a 1.14 WHIP and 2.88 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles lead the American League East but do not have a comfortable lead on the rest of the pack with the big offense of the Red Sox a huge threat while the suddenly pitching minded Blue Jays and their dangerous bats lurking in the shadows. The Orioles are known for their prowess at the plate and their offense is capable of carrying the team all by their lonesome. The success of the O’s going forward is whether pitchers like Ubaldo Jimenez, Kevin Gausman and Tyler Wilson can find a groove and take some pressure off Chris Tillman and Yovani Gallardo. The Orioles have pegged Kevin Gausman as the game two starter versus a Rays club he has seen once this season. Gausman comes off a 4-3 defeat at the Rangers where he was charged with all four runs on nine hits in five frames.
The over is 17-5-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 24 road games and is 14-5-2 in their last 21 on grass. The over is 8-3 in Baltimore’s last 11 Saturday games and the Orioles are 12-5 in their last 17 games on grass while going 35-16 in their last 51 home games. The under is 6-2 in Gausman’s last 8 starts versus Tampa Bay. Andriese has never seen the O’s which might help or hurt while Gausman has been hurt by the long ball. I don’t see a need to bet this because we have no clue who will be in the lineup and I’m not in to guessing…
