Down on the South Side at US Cellular Field on Sunday, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago White Sox will be finishing up their MLB series.
This will be the third game of the set. In Friday’s opener, the White Sox eked out a 3-2 victory. On Saturday, it was the Blue Jays’ turn to get a win 10-8.

On Sunday, the Blue Jays will be giving the start to right-hander Marcus Stroman. In his 15 starts and 6-3 record this year, Stroman has managed a 5.23 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP in 96.1 innings. On Sunday against the Orioles, Stroman was lit up for seven earned in 3.2 innings for a loss.
The Toronto hitters have loads of talent, but haven’t quite put it all together this year. Josh Donaldson has 79 hits with 62 runs, 17 homers and 47 RBI. Kevin Pillar has 75 hits with 32 runs and 31 RBI. Edwin Encarnacion has a team-high 19 homers with 73 hits, 45 runs and 66 RBI so far. Encarnacion bagged three hits with four RBI on Friday.
Lefty Chris Sale will be making the start for the White Sox on Sunday. In his 15 appearances this year, Sale has a 12-2 record, a 2.83 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP across 105 innings. On Tuesday against the Red Sox, Sale bagged four hits, one run and nine Ks in seven innings.
Chicago boasts a pretty capable crew at the plate as well. Adam Eaton leads the charge on 83 hits with 38 runs, 23 RBI and four homers. Eaton smacked a solo homer in the ninth inning Saturday. Melky Cabrera has 79 hits with 35 runs and 38 RBI. Jose Abreu has 77 hits with 29 runs, 11 homers and 47 RBI thus far.
The Blue Jays are 5-1 in their last six game threes of a series, and 16-7 in their last 23 Sunday games. Toronto is also 6-2 in Stroman’s last eight starts in game three of a series, and 7-3 in Stroman’s last 10 road starts.
The White Sox are 0-4 in their last four Sunday games, and 7-1 in Sale’s last eight home starts. Chicago is also 5-0 in Sale’s last five starts against the American League East, and 13-3 in Sale’s last 16 starts overall.
It would be silly or me to pick against Sale right now, so I won’t. give me the White Sox for the win.
