The Kansas City Royals look to build on their win at home yesterday against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday as they face off once again on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium.
The Cardinals look to rebound and take one back from the defending World Series champions as they send Michael Wacha to the mound who will be out for his fourth victory of the season as he will match up against Yordano Ventura. St. Louis has fallen on hard times when it comes to their standard of regular season success but they are still four games above the .500 mark and are in the running for an NL wild card spot and with the mid way point of the season fast approaching there is still plenty of time for them to go on a run. Wacha has struggled this season and has slipped since his days as the next potential ace of this team but he is still a good pitcher and will have to be sharp here against a Royals side that is picking up steam again after slumping hard in the month of May and early June.

The Royals sport the same 39-35 record as their opponents tonight and will look to build on their win from yesterday as they get the sometimes erratic yet effective Ventura on the mound who has put aside from trade rumors and has thrown well. KC looked as though they were on the decline after losing Mike Moustakas to injury but they look like they are on their way back up and while they have a ton of work to do before they get back in the division race they look like they are on the right track and an interleague win here against the Cards will continue to help them build towards a potential playoff push.
The Cards are 9-2 in their last 11 road games, 6-2 in their last eight interleague road games, and 6-0 in Wacha’s last six starts on five days rest while the Royals are 20-7 in their last 27 interleague home games against a righty, 7-1 in Ventura’s last eight home starts, and 1-4 in their last five overall. KC got the win yesterday and I think they add to it today as Wacha has struggled while Ventura will be out to make amends after serving his suspension.
