The Texas Rangers and New York Yankees continue their series on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium as Cole Hamels goes head to head with CC Sabathia.
The Rangers look to continue their impressive season as they face off against a Yankees side that is having an up and down season despite some of its jersey donners having big seasons on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. Texas is loaded across the board and have one of the best lineups in baseball and with Prince Fielder having a rejuvenated season and the likes of Rougned Odor and Adrian Beltre at the plate they are a tough team to pitch around and will certainly be a force to watch out for come playoff time pending their season trajectory stays on course. Hamels will look to continue his red hot start as he is 8-1 with a 2.79 ERA and he will face off against CC Sabathia who has responded after a couple of shaky seasons to get back to his old self as he is 5-4 with a very respectable 2.71 ERA.

The Yankees meanwhile are sitting at the .500 mark and will look to claw their way back into the race in the AL East and while there is still plenty of baseball left to be played the Yanks run the risk of falling too far back and would then be forced into moving some key assets at the trade deadline. New York has one of the best bullpens in baseball and I think we can expect both Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman to be on the move in the next month or so and that would be a huge blow to New York’s playoff chances that are already bleak to begin with as the Jays, Orioles, and Red SOx all have better rosters top to bottom.
Texas is 5-1 in their last six against the AL East, 39-17 in their last 56 overall, and 22-5 in Hamels’ last 27 starts while the Yanks are 8-0 in their last eight against the AL West, 5-2 in their last seven game two’s of a series, and 4-1 in their last five against a lefty. This should be a good contest but in the end the play of Hamels should be the difference as he is having a great season and that continues on the road against New York.
