The New York Yankees say good bye to the Texas Rangers after a Thursday night tilt.
The Texas Rangers are trying to put away the American League West before the All Star break and have been heading in that direction. The Rangers had won nine of eleven before their pen collapsed in a 9-7 loss at New York. Texas starter Nicholas Martinez gave up two runs over five frames before the pen was torched for six runs in the 9th. The Rangers logged nine hits and walked three times with Adrian Beltre and Rougned Odor going solo while Nomar Mazara drove in three runs and scored.The Rangers are slated to end their series at the Yankees with AJ Griffin on the hill. Griffin is coming off a pair of no decisions where he has given up five runs on eight hits and four BB over seven innings.

The New York Yankees need a few wins and hope it snowballs in to a prolonged hot streak. The Yankees appeared to be heading for their 4th straight before an unexpected six run 9th gave them the win over possibly the best team in the game. Yanks starter Masahiro Tanaka was charged with six runs on eight hits through six innings with Luis Cessa allowed a run in three innings to get the win. New York logged ten hits and walked seven times with Didi Gregorius and Chase Headley going deep and driving in two runs each while Brian McCann homered twice and drove in four. Michael Pineda toes the rubber in the series finale’ versus the visiting Rangers. Pineda comes off of a 2-1 win versus Minnesota with a run allowed on two hits in six frames.
Texas are 8-2 in their last 10 Thursday games and are 18-6 in their last 24 road games while going 40-14 in their last 54 games on grass.
