The Miami Marlins collide with the division rival Atlanta Braves in Saturday action.
The Miami Marlins have not played well the past several days and the result is they have dropped to third in the National League East. The Marlins ended a three game skid with a 7-5, 12 inning win at Turner Field on Friday. Fish starter Justin Nicolino was charged with four runs over seven frames before six relievers held the Braves offense in check. Miami amassed 17 hits with Marcell Ozuna going 4-6 with a homer and three RBI’s while Derick Dietrich went solo with Jose Fernandez smacking a PH, two run double. The Marlins are sending Jose Fernandez to the bump to face the Braves for the second time in 2016. Fernandez comes off of a 6-1 win versus the Cubs with a run scored on four hits while whiffing 13 over seven innings.

The Atlanta Braves haven’t had a good week although they are stuck in the basement in the National League East and won’t be able to dig themselves out. The Braves came close to stealing one Friday but at the end of the night they were staring at losses in six of eight. Bravos starter Julio Teheran gave up five runs on eleven hits through 6.2 innings before Casey Kelly gave up a pair of runs in the 12th to take the loss. Atlanta mustered eleven hits and three walks with Tyler Flowers going deep while Chase d’Arnaud homered and drove in a pair. Bud Norris toes the rubber against the visiting Marlins for his second start versus the Fish this year. Norris comes off of a 5-2 win against the Mets with seven scoreless frames.
The under is 8-1 in Fernandez’s last 9 on grass and is 7-1 in Fernandez’s last 8 Saturday starts while Miami are 9-2 in Fernandez’s last 11 Saturday starts. The under is 6-2 in Atlanta’s last 8 Saturday games and the Braves are 7-16 in their last 23 Saturday games while the under is 9-4 in their last 13 overall. Miami are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings and the over is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings. I see Casey Kelly is starting which I doubt so please check back…
