The Chicago Cubs conclude their visit to Citi Field and the New York Mets Sunday.
The Chicago Cubs are the best team in the National League Central although they are going through their first slow period of 2016. Following Saturday’s 4-3 defeat at Citi Field the Cubs have lost three in a row. Cubbies ace Jake Arrieta took the loss with all four runs allowed on eight hits and a pair of BB. Chicago managed six hits and walked four with Ben Zobrist going solo while Anthony Rizzo went deep and drove in two. Left hander Jon Lester gets the ball in the series finale’ at the Mets on Sunday. Lester is coming off of a 7-2 victory at Cincinnati where he allowed a run on three hits over 7.2 innings.

The New York Mets have reclaimed second in the National League East but their spot is far from being secure. The Mets ran their winning streak to three games following Saturday’s squeaker versus the visiting Cubs. Veteran NYM starter Bartolo Colon was charged with a pair of runs on four hits and three bases on balls through six innings to get the victory. New York logged eight hits and walked twice with Neil Walker going deep and driving in two while Travis d’Arnaud knocked in two more.Noah Syndergaard draws Sunday’s start against the visiting Cubs. Syndergaard took an 11-4 defeat at Washington last time out with five runs plated on seven hits and three BB in three frames.
