The Philadelphia Phillies and Kansas City Royals continue their interleague series Sunday.
The Kansas City Royals are needing to win virtually every time out just to stay on the Indians heels in the American League Central. The Royals shutdown the Phillies 6-2 Saturday and have won five of seven as starter Danny Duffy gave up both runs on seven hits over 8.2 frames to get the win. KC totaled ten hits and walked twice with Kendrys Morales leading the way with a pair of homers and four runs driven in.Kansas City will be looking for a rebound from Yordano Ventura when he faces Philadelphia for the first time ever. Ventura gave up seven runs in 5.1 innings of an 8-4 loo to St. Louis last time out.

The Philadelphia Phillies have emerged from their month long funk but how long the good times last is the question. The Phillies were beginning to look good with four consecutive victories before neither the arms or bats came up big Saturday evening versus visiting Kansas City. Phils starter Aaron Nola’s struggles continued with five runs scoring on six hits through five innings to get the loss. Philadelphia mustered seven hits with Maikel Franco and Cesar Hernandez driving in Carlos Ruiz and Peter Bourjos. Vincent Valasquez makes his second start since coming off the disabled list. Valasquez defeated Arizona 8-0 on the road last time out with five scoreless frames with seven K’s.
The under is 14-3 in Kansas City’s last 17 Sunday games and is 7-2-1 in their last 10 interleague games while the Royals are 4-12 in their last 16 road games. Philadelphia are 1-7 in their last 8 home games and are 9-23 in their last 32 games on grass while the over is 17-8 in their last 25 on grass. I think the pitching edge goes to the Phillies but they still need to score….
