The Arizona Diamondbacks host the San Diego Padres in a NL West tilt Monday night.
The San Diego Padres are looking to escape the National League West basement with Arizona just a few games ahead of them. The Padres saw a modest two game winning streak end in a 6-3 loss to the visiting Yankees on Sunday with both the arms and bats struggling. SD starter Andrew Cashner gave up two runs (one earned) over six frames before the pen allowed four to put the game out of reach. The Padres logged eight hits and a free pass with Alex Dickerson smacking a two run bomb while Yangervis Solarte went solo. San Diego opens the series at Chase Field with rookie Luis Perdomo on the mound. Peromo comes off of a 3-0 defeat at Cincinnati where he gave up all three runs on seven hits and three BB over six innings.

The Arizona Diamondbacks still have a shot at reaching .500 but going much further then that would be a stretch. The Diamondbacks haven’t had much go their way the past few weeks and that trend continued in a 5-4, eleven inning loss to visiting San Francisco as the Snakes lost for the 8th time in eleven contests. Zona starter Robbie Ray gave up four runs through six innings before Enrique Burgos gave up an 11th inning run to absorb the loss. The D-Backs posted nine hits with Jake Lamb smacking a two run homer while Paul Goldschmidt went deep and scored twice.Archie Bradley is scheduled to be on the hill to oppose the Padres on Monday night. Bradley did not receive a decision in a 9-8 loss to Philadelphia with three runs plated on eight hits in six frames.
The over is 11-4 in San Diego’s last 15 overall and is 11-4 in their last 15 on grass while going 8-3-1 in their last 12 Monday games. The over is 7-2 in Arizona’s last 9 overall and is 7-2 in their last 9 on grass while going 9-3 in their last 12 Monday games. The over is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings in Arizona. I can find more reasons not to bet this then anything…
