Over at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies will be wrapping up their series.
This will be game three of the set. In the Monday opener, the Phillies took an 8-2 victory. On Tuesday, Philly made it two in a row with a 5-1 win.

For Wednesday’s game, the Braves will be trotting out right-hander Tyrell Jenkins. Over four appearances (zero starts) and an 0-1 record this year, Jenkins holds a 5.79 ERA with a 1.93 WHIP in 9.1 innings. Jenkins is a relatively fresh face out of Triple-A, where he posted a 2.91 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP this year through 65 total innings.
At the plate, Atlanta has a few noteworthy bats. Freddie Freeman has been the star on 91 hits with 40 runs, 14 homers and 36 RBI. Nick Markakis has 80 hits with 32 runs and 43 RBI to lead the team. Adonis Garcia has put up 53 hits with 20 runs and 22 RBI this year. Markakis and Garcia were the only ones of that trio to manage a hit on Tuesday.
The Phillies will counter with right-hander Jeremy Hellickson on Wednesday. In his 17 starts, Hellickson has put up a 4.06 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP in 99.2 innings total. On Friday against the Royals, Hellickson managed a win with six innings, five hits and one earned on the day.
Philly has some interesting swingers in their lineup as well. Odubel Herrera has put up 94 hits with 48 runs and 32 RBI. Cesar Hernandez sits on 76 hits with 26 runs and 20 RBI. Maikel Franco has logged 77 hits with 30 runs, 15 homers (team-high) and 48 RBI so far. Franco put up two hits in Tuesday’s matchup.
The Braves are 8-17 in their last 25 Wednesday games, and 16-35 in their last 51 game threes of a series. Atlanta is also 21-52 in their last 73 road games, and 7-21 in their last 28 games after losing the first two games of a series.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 3-8 in their last 11 game threes of a series, and 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games. Philadelphia is also 2-6 in Hellickson’s last eight starts, and 1-4 in Hellickson’s last five home starts.
I’m not thrilled with either team here, but I like Hellickson a little better than Jenkins right now so I’ll go with the Phillies.
