The Baltimore Orioles look to extend their lead in the AL East with a win versus the Los Angeles Angels Saturday.
The Los Angeles Angels are hoping to head in to the All Star break playing well and then either making some trades or stay the course and seeing what happens. The Angels have won four in a row after outscoring Baltimore 9-5 Friday. LAA starter Matt Shoemaker improved to 4-9 with three runs scored over five frames. Los Angeles totaled ten hits and walked four times with CJ Cron and Daniel Nava driving in two runs apiece while five others recorded RBI’s. Nick Tropeano draws his first career start against the Orioles on Saturday. Tropeano has done a solid job for the Angels with a 3-2 record over eleven starts with a 3.28 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles are looking to expand their lead in the American League East with Toronto breathing down their necks. The Orioles saw their modest two game winning streak end versus the visiting Angels and they also lost a game in the standings with the Blue Jays winning. O’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez lasted just 1.1 innings with five runs allowed before Mike Wright gave up four more. The Birds mustered nine hits and walked four times with Adam Jones, Mark Trumbo and Jonathan Schoop each going deep. Veteran Yovani Callardo toes the rubber for the 5th time since coming off the disabled list. Gallardo struggled last time out in a 7-5 loss at the Dodgers with four runs given up on six hits and three BB in four frames.
The Angels are 7-19 in their last 26 games on grass and are 5-12 in their last 17 overall while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 on grass. The over is 9-2 in Baltimore’s last 11 overall and is 9-2 in their last 11 on grass while going 10-4 in their last 14 Saturday games. The under is 17-6 in the last 25 meetings. I’m leaning over here in a tossup…
