Right-hander Tim Lincecum will be taking the start for the Angels on Sunday. Over his four starts and 1-2 record, Lincecum holds a 7.50 ERA with a 2.11 WHIP. In his last start against the Rays, Lincecum registered a no-decision with 4.2 innings, 10 hits and five runs.
Los Angeles isn’t hurting for star power. Mike Trout sits atop the pile on 103 hits with 68 runs, 57 RBI and 18 homers. Yunel Escobar has put up 100 hits, 37 runs and 27 RBI. Kole Calhoun is up there as well on 96 hits with 53 runs, 10 homers and 47 RBI.
RHP Chris Tillman will be starting for the Orioles on Sunday. In his 18 games and 11-2 record this year, Tillman owns a 3.55 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP in 106.1 innings. In his most recent appearance, Tillman put up a win with seven innings, five hits and one earned run against the Dodgers.
Baltimore doesn’t slouch much at the plate, either. Manny Machado holds 109 hits with 62 runs, 19 homers and 53 RBI. Mark Trumbo has put up 99 hits, 54 runs, 28 homers and 68 RBI. Trumbo slapped a solo homer on Saturday. Jonathan Schoop holds 96 hits, 48 runs, 14 homers and 51 RBI.
The Angels are 1-3 in their last four game threes of a series, and 4-1 in their last five road games. Los Angeles is also 4-1 in their last five against the American League East, and 3-12in their last 15 games on grass.
As for the Orioles, they’re 8-2 in their last 10 game threes of a series, and 4-0 in Tillman’s last four Sunday starts. Baltimore is also 18-4 in Tillman’s last 22 starts, and 9-1 in Tillman’s last 10 starts with four days’ rest.
I like Tillman in the pitching matchup here, so I’ll take the Orioles in the win. Baltimore shouldn’t have much trouble with the sketchy Lincecum.
