Washington Nationals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates - 7/15/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Pirates will be rolling out lefty Francisco Liriano for Friday’s start. In his 17 outings this year, Liriano has posted a 5-8 record with a 5.15 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP in 92.2 innings. In his last appearance against the Cubs, Liriano put up a no-decision with five innings, three hits and two runs.

At the plate, the Pittsburgh hitters have some definite pop. Starling Marte leads the way on his 99 hits with 48 runs, six homers and 32 RBI. Gregory Polanco has put up 86 hits, 50 runs, 12 homers and 50 RBI. Josh Harrison holds 83 hits with 34 runs and 41 RBI thus far.

The Nationals haven’t announced a starter for Friday just yet, but we’ll update once that info becomes available.

Washington has a nice crop of hitters at their disposal this season. Daniel Murphy has been crushing on 117 hits, 53 runs, 17 homers and 66 RBI. Wilson Ramos is also playing well on his 88 hits, 39 runs, 13 homers and 48 RBI. Anthony Rendon is up there as well on 82 hits, 54 runs and 33 RBI.

The Pirates are 7-1 in their last eight road games, and 5-1 in their last six game ones of a series. Pittsburgh is also 9-2 in their last 11 overall, and 43-18 in their last 61 Friday games.
As for the Nationals, they’re 4-1 in their last five overall, and 4-1 in their last five Friday games. Washington is also 6-1 in their last seven against a team with a winning record, and 13-4 in their last 17 home games.

I feel like Liriano and the Pirates will come out swinging here, but Strasburg should hold the fort down.
