The Los Angeles Dodgers look to keep the big bats swinging on Saturday as they continue their series at Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Dodgers had an offensive outpour in Arizona last night and they will look to do so once again on Saturday as they will face off against Archie Bradley who has had some nice outings this season but is always on alert for giving up runs in bunches. Los Angeles will look to make a serious push at the NL West crown but they have some work to do in the second half of the season if they’re going to catch the San Francisco Giants, however they are still in the mix for a wild card spot. LA will look to keep rolling as they were 8-3 heading into the all-star break and today’s starter in Brandon McCarthy has been pitching well of late as the Dodgers are 6-0 in his last six starts. Arizona will counter with Bradley who is 2-5 with a 4.84 ERA and is another name attached to a disappointing season in the desert as they have gone from a preseason dark horse to an in season bust.

Arizona is a very underwhelming 38-52 and have gone from being a team that would potentially threaten the reign of the Dodgers/Giants in the NL West to a division doormat and will likely become sellers at the trade deadline. Arizona is without AJ Pollock who may end up back in the lineup sooner rather than later but with Arizona’s position in the standings I don’t see them rushing him back as they won’t want to wager any potential risk of re-injuring if he is rushed back but they could certainly use his pop at the plate as they have been very light hitting this season.
The Dodgers are 8-1 in their last nine against the NL West, 7-1 in their last eight against a team with a losing record, and 6-0 in McCarthy’s last six starts while the D-Backs are 2-9 in their last 11 home games, 2-12 in their last 14 overall, and 0-4 in Bradley’s last fur home starts. This is another tough spot for Arizona as LA has a huge pitching edge and all of the trends point to a blowout win for LA.
