In Sunday MLB action from Great American Ball Park, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds will be wrapping up their series.
This will be the third of a three-game set. In Friday’s opener, the Reds logged a 5-4 win. On Saturday, the Brewers got even on a 9-1 blowout victory.

RHP Zach Davies will make the start for the Brewers on Sunday. In his 15 starts and 6-4 record this year, Davies owns a 4.10 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP in 85.2 innings. During his last start in Washington, Davies put up a win on 6.2 innings with nine hits and two earned.
It’s not hard to pick out the key guys in the Milwaukee order. Jonathan Villar has managed 100 hits with 46 runs and 33 RBI. Jonathan Lucroy holds 91 hits with 43 runs, 12 homers and 45 RBI. Lucroy secured a homer on Saturday. Ryan Braun has put up 91 hits with 37 runs, 13 homers and 44 RBI so far.
Over on the Reds’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Dan Straily on the mound Sunday. In 19 appearances (16 starts) and a 4-6 record this year, Straily has managed a 4.35 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP in 101.1 innings. In a loss in Miami his last time out, Straily gave up three earned on six hits in six innings.
The Cincinnati lineup has a few gems in it. Jay Bruce has put up 86 hits with 49 runs, 18 homers and 64 RBI. Brandon Phillips holds 84 hits with 39 runs and 34 RBI. Zach Cozart has logged 83 hits so far with 50 runs and 38 RBI with 14 homers. Bruce and Cozart combined to go 0-for-5 on Saturday.
The Brewers are 0-4 in their last four Sunday games, and 0-7 in their last seven game threes of a series. Milwaukee is also 6-2 in Davies’ last eight starts and 6-2 in Davies’ last eight starts on grass.
As for the Reds, they’re 3-12 in their last 15 game threes of a series, and 14-38 in their last 52 Sunday games. Cincinnati is also 5-2 in Straily’s last seven home starts and 4-1 in Straily’s last five starts in game three of a series.
There’s not a whole lot to like about this game, but I’ll take Straily and the Reds here.
