The Detroit Tigers look to go on a prolonged hot streak to at least stay in the Wild Card race. The Tigers had won two of three before Saturday’s defeat at the hands of visiting Kansas City where the pitching couldn’t hold up their end of the bargain. Detroit starter Mike Pelfrey was charged with five runs on four hits and four BB through 1.2 innings to absorb the loss with the pen allowing three more runs. The Tigers logged seven hits and a walk with Ian Kinsler going deep with a pair of RBI’s and two runs. Rookie Michael Fulmer toes the rubber against Kansas City on Sunday afternoon. Fulmer defeated Cleveland 12-2 last time out with both runs cored (one earned) on five hits in six frames.
Kansas City are 2-7 in their last 9 overall and the under is 14-5 in their last 19 Sunday games while the Royals are 12-30 in their last 42 road games. Detroit are 19-7 in their last 26 home games and are 9-19 in their last 28 Sunday games while the Tigers are 10-1 in Fulmer’s last 11 starts. The over is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings.
