Over at Citzens Bank Park on Sunday, the MLB is bringing us another installment of the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies series.
This will be the third and final game of the set. On Friday, New York bagged a 5-3 win. In Saturday’s game, the Phillies struck back with a 4-2 victory.

For Sunday’s matchup, the Mets will be wheeling out RHP Jacob deGrom. In his 15 starts and 5-4 record this year, deGrom has logged a 2.61 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP in 93 innings. In his last outing, deGrom put up a win on seven innings with six hits and two earned against Miami.
At the plate, we’ve got a pretty good New York crew. Yoenis Cespedes heads the charge on 87 hits with 47 runs, 21 homers and 52 RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera has logged 87 hits, 38 runs, 12 homers and 29 RBI. Curtis Granderson holds 76 hits with 44 runs, 15 homers and 27 RBI. Granderson bagged a hit and a run on Saturday.
RHP Zach Eflin will make the start for the Phillies on Sunday. In six starts and a 2-2 mark so far, Eflin has managed a 4.08 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP in 35.1 innings. In Colorado his last time out, Eflin put up seven hits and two runs in six innings for a win.
The Phillies have a few gems at the plate. Odubel Herrera has managed 98 hits to lead the team along with 50 runs, 10 homers and 33 RBI. Maikel Franco has a team-high 18 homers with 54 RBI, 86 hits and 37 runs. Freddy Galvis has put up 78 hits with 35 runs and 36 RBI so far.
The Mets are 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games, and 8-2 in deGrom’s last 10 Sunday starts. New York is also 11-4 in deGrom’s last 15 starts in game three of a series, and 1-4 in deGrom’s last five road starts.
As for the Phillies, they’re 4-9 in their last 13 game threes of a series, and 4-7 in their last 11 against the National League East. Philadelphia is also 11-4 in their last 15 overall and 6-1 in their last seven home games against a right-handed starter.
I can’t find a whole lot of reasons to pick the Phillies with deGrom on the mound. I’ll take the Mets here.
