The Miami Marlins look for a win at Busch Stadium Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Miami Marlins are hot and need to stay that way if they expect to challenge in the National League East. The Marlins were red hot heading in to Saturday with wins in seven of ten before cooling off for the night in a 5-0 defeat at St. Louis. Nothing went favorably with Fish starter Tom Koehler charged with four runs on seven hits and three BB over four frames to absorb the loss. Miami managed three hits and a pair of free passes with Adeiny Hechavarria going 2-3. The Marlins hand the ball to Adam Conley who is shooting for his third straight win. Conley defeated Cincinnati 4-2 last time out with both runs given up on four hits over 5.2 innings.

The St. Louis Cardinals need to win more consistently if they expect to contend for the postseason. The Cardinals have won three of four following Saturday’s victory versus visiting Miami. The Cards put everything together with starter Adam Wainwright in Cy Young form with a three hit, complete game performance. The Redbirds did their damage on eight hits and three walks with Jhonny Peralta going solo while Stephen Piscotty went 2-3 with a pair of RBI’s and a run. Michael Wacha gets Sunday’s start against the Marlins who he sees for the first time in his career. Wacha did not get a decision in a 4-3 loss at Milwaukee with three runs scored on three homers in 6.2 frames.
The over is 8-3 in Miami’s last 11 road games and is 11-5 in their last 16 overall while going 11-5 in the Marlins last 16 on grass. The over is 6-1-1 in the Cardinals last 8 Sunday games and the under is 11-3-1 in their last 15 home games while going 9-3-1 in their last 13 overall. Miami are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings. Tough to get a read on this one with nether hurler facing the respective opposition so perhaps a small over play…
