On Tuesday evening at Chase Field, the Toronto Blue Jays will be taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Toronto is coming off a weekend set against the Athletics. The Blue Jays dropped the first two games, but were able to win 5-3 in the finale to prevent the sweep.

As for the Diamondbacks, they tussled with the Dodgers this weekend. Arizona and L.A. split the first two, then the Diamondbacks won the finale 6-5 to take the series.
The Blue Jays will be rolling out RHP Aaron Sanchez for Tuesday’s game. In his 18 starts and 9-1 record this year, Sanchez owns a 2.97 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP in 118.1 innings of work. in his last start against the Tigers, Sanchez pitched five innings in a no-decision on five hits and two earned.
Toronto has a very formidable group at the plate. Josh Donaldson leads the charge on 105 hits with 23 homers, 66 RBI and 82 runs. Kevin Pillar has put up 95 hits to take second on the team in that category, alongside 39 runs and 36 RBI. Edwin Encarnacion holds 92 hits with 58 runs, 24 homers (team-high) and 81 RBI.
RHP Zack Godley will be taking the mound for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Over six games (two starts) and a 2-0 record, Godley has put up a 5.28 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 15.1 innings. Godley is taking Shelby Miller’s spot in the rotation right now, and needs to prove himself once again at the big-league level.
Arizona has a few diamonds in the rough in their hitting lineup. Jean Segura is way out front on 112 hits, 54 runs and 37 RBI. Paul Goldschmidt has hit 16 homers with 61 RBI, 99 hits and 56 runs. AS for Jonathan Lamb, he’s got 91 hits, 52 runs, 21 homers and 65 RBI so far.
The Blue Jays are 6-2 in their last eight interleague games, and 6-2 in their last eight games following a win. Toronto is also 10-4 in Sanchez’s last 14 starts and 0-4 in Sanchez’s last four Tuesday starts.
As for the Diamondbacks, they’re 4-10 in their last 14 home games and 4-13 in their last 17 overall. Arizona is also 4-0 in Godley’s last four home starts, and 4-0 in Godley’s last four starts overall.
I don’t think Sanchez and the Blue Jays will have much trouble here. I’ll take Toronto for the easy win.
