The Line: Chicago Cubs / New York Mets --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Chicago Cubs look to build on their impressive win at home yesterday against the New York Mets as the two sides meet up again on Tuesday at Wrigley.
The Mets failed to pull off the upset last night and now they take on the reigning Cy Young Award winner in Jake Arrieta in what could be a potential season defining series for both clubs as the unofficial second half is well under way. New York will counter with their own ace on Tuesday as Noah Syndergaard will get the ball in what is one of the more anticipated pitching matchups of the season and after the Mets got the best of the Cubs in a four game sweep the last time these two sides faced off you can be sure the Cubs are out to return the favour. New York has been struggling on the road of late but they always seem to get up when Thor takes the mound and they will look to get to Arrieta early and allow their flame thrower to take control of the game.

The Cubs meanwhile remain atop the NL Central and are still considered among a small handful of teams that are World Series favourites but they have some company now as the Giants and Nationals are keeping pace in what should be an exciting race to the finish. Chicago has a very solid roster and they could be even more formidable if they can add a piece or two at the trade deadline and with the rumor swirling that they are out for one of the top end relief pitchers they could shore up the weakest part of their roster. Arrieta is having another spectacular season but has gone under the radar thanks to the campaign put forth from Clayton Kershaw but he can get one back tonight with a head to head show down against Syndergaard.
The Mets are 23-5 in their last 28 against the NL Central, 7-0 in Syndergaard’s last seven against the NL Central, but 1-7 in their last eight Tuesday starts while the Cubs are 1-7 in their last eight against the NL East, 4-10 in their last 14 overall, and 10-3 in Arrieta’s last 14 home starts. This is going to be a great show down and while the Cubs got the best of the Mets last night I like New York to rebound as Thor gets the nod over Arrieta.
