The Oakland Athletics look for consistency after splitting their last 12 games. The Athletics have allowed 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last seven games. The Oakland Athletics have an ERA of 4.70 and have lost 10 of their last 13 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Danny Valencia leads Oakland with 83 hits, Khris Davis has 61 RBI and Marcus Semien has 20 home runs. Sean Manaea takes the hill, and he’s 3-5 with a 5.13 ERA and 59 strikeouts this season. This will be Manaea’s first career game against the Rays.
The Rays are 1-8 in their last 9 during game 2 of a series and 1-5 in Odorizzis last 6 starts. The Athletics are 4-9 in their last 13 during game 2 of a series and 4-11 in their last 15 vs. American League East. The Rays are 21-48 in the last 69 meetings in Oakland.
Talk about a game that's probably fade material, it's this one. Neither team is trustworthy and the pitching matchup is even more questionable. However, since you have to pick a winner, I'm going to side with the Rays. Tampa Bay is playing better baseball as of late and Odorizzi is a slightly better option than Manaea. Also, plus money never hurt anyone.
