Arizona is fresh off a two-game set against the Blue Jays this week. The Diamondbacks lost both games by a combined 10 runs.

As for the Reds, they just finished up against the Braves. Cincinnati and Atlanta split the first two games, but the Reds took the series with a Thursday win 6-3.
Taking the mound for the Diamondbacks on Friday will be right-hander Archie Bradley. In his 12 starts and 3-5 record this year, Bradley has put up a 4.37 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP in 70 innings of work. In his last start against the Dodgers, Bradley managed a no-decision despite giving up just one earned on six hits through six innings.
The Arizona hitters have some great talent atop their order. Jean Segura is crushing this year on 117 hits with 56 runs, 37 RBI and a nifty .311 BA. Paul Goldschmidt has hit 16 homers with 62 RBI, 100 hits and 56 runs. Jake Lamb is third on the team with 91 hits, 52 runs, 21 homers and 65 RBI alongside a .294 batting average.
For Friday’s game, the Reds will be whipping out right-hander Dan Straily once again. In his 20 games (17 starts), Straily holds a 4-6 record with a 4.07 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP across 108.1 innings. Against the Brewers in his most recent start, Straily logged a tough-luck no-decision on three hits and no earned through seven innings.
The Cincinnati bats leave a little to be desired this year, but there are a few gems here. Jay Bruce leads the team on 89 hits with 51 runs, 19 homers and 66 RBI. Zack Mozart has put up 87 hits with 51 runs, 15 homers and 40 RBI. Brandon Phillips has hit 87 times with 40 runs, 34 RBI and a .260 BA so far.
The Diamondbacks are 7-20 in their last 27 against the National League Central, and 2-6 in their last eight Friday games. Arizona is also 0-4 in their last four games following an off day, and 1-5 in their last six games following a loss.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 16-35 in their last 51 Friday games, and 22-45 in their last 67 games following a win. Cincinnati is also 2-5 in Straily’s last seven starts in game one of a series, and 6-2 in Straily’s last eight home starts.
There’s not a lot to like about this game at first glance, but the Reds have a lot of things going for them here. Straily has been pitching well, they’re at home, and they’re playing a skidding Diamondbacks team.
