The San Francisco Giants return home after a tough series in the Bronx as they host the Cincinnati Reds at AT&T Park on Monday night.
The Reds look to shake off a tough loss at home yesterday as they fly to the west coast to face off with the Giants with their new found ace on the mound in Anthony DeSclafani who is in the whirlwind of trade rumors at the moment. The Reds have had a tough season and will likely part with some significant pieces by the end of the month as they look to rebuild for the future and while they have already moved from the likes of Johnny Cueto, Todd Frazier, and Aroldis Chapman over the last couple of seasons they still have some valuable pieces that will hopefully return some integral pieces. The Reds have a ton of pop at the plate as the like of Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, and Adam Duvall can all hit the cover off the ball and against Jake Peavy who has been susceptible to giving up the long ball they could find themselves up early in this one.

The Giants meanwhile had a very tough stretch in New York over the weekend and are 3-7 in their last 10 games and can slowly feel the grasp atop the NL West slipping away as July nears a close. San Francisco has one of the best rosters in baseball and will likely get better as the trade deadline approaches and with Hunter Pence slated to return they are going to be a formidable lineup that will be tough to beat across a seven game set. San Fran though is in a tough spot here as Peavy hasn’t been great and the team as a whole has been woeful of late and catch a Reds side that has had a disappointing season and playing with without much pressure and are care free until some of their trade chips fall.
The Reds are 5-1 in DeSclafani’s last six starts, 5-2 in their last seven overall, and 5-11 in their last 16 Monday games while the Giants are 6-1 in their last seven against the NL Central, 1-7 in their last eight overall, and 19-7 in their last 26 home games. San Fran is the better team without question but the Reds have the better pitcher going here and I think that is enough as the Reds have just as much pop in the lineup.
