The Atlanta Braves look to build on a rare road victory as they continue their series at Target Field on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins.
The Braves won a low scoring, 2-0 affair on the road against the Twins yesterday and they will look to follow that up on Wednesday as they send Mike Foltynewicz to the mound who will face off against Tyler Duffey as both of these teams look to build some momentum in the second half of the season. The Braves have stumbled this year and while many expected them to be firmly in the basement of the NL East they haven’t been able to generate much in terms of consistency and continue to be a disappointment even though they didn’t have much hype. Atlanta may ship a few pieces out of town in hopes of getting some return which could move along their rebuild as early as next year.

The Twins meanwhile had been on the ascent as they pieced together a solid stretch of winning games but they have since fallen back and last night was a perfect example of how they can go cold against one of the worst teams in baseball. Minnesota is also in a rebuild phase but are in a much better position than the Braves as they have some solid parts making a difference in the bigs right now and if they end up holding on to Eduardo Nunez he could be on the watch for one of the better five tool guys in the league over the next few seasons.
The Braves are 25-61 in their last 86 road games, 4-10 in their last 14 interleague road games, and 2-5 in their last seven against the AL Central while the Twins are 5-1 in Duffey’s last six starts, 5-11 in their last 16 Wednesday games, and 8-19 in their last 27 against the NL East. Atlanta wins the pitching match up here and to be honest I think that is enough despite the Twins having the better roster.
