The Arizona Diamondbacks begin a road series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have looked good on occasion but not often enough to be a factor in the NL West. The Diamondbacks took an early lead at Milwaukee before the Brewers offense came to life in a 6-4 defeat on Thursday. D-Backs starter Robbie Ray was charged with five runs on five hits and two BB while whiffing eleven over 5.2 frames to fall to 5-10. The Snakes managed nine hits with Yasmany Tomas leading the way with two hits and two RBI’s and a run. The Diamondbacks have scheduled Zack Godley to begin the series on the bump at the Dodgers. Godley comes off of a 9-8 win at Cincinnati where he was charged with five runs on ten hits over 5.2 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have crawled to within a few games of the Giants for the lead in the National League West. The Dodgers missed out on a chance to pick up a game in the standings with a 3-1 loss to visiting Tampa Bay on Wednesday where the bats were silent. LAD starter Brandon McCarthy fell to 2-1 with all three runs given up on four hits and a pair of BB through four innings. Los Angeles was held to just five hits and four walks with Joc Pederson scoring an unearned run. Kenta Maeda toes the rubber against the Diamondbacks for the 4th time this season. Maeda defeated the Cardinals 7-2 last time out with both runs allowed on five hits in 5.2 frames.
Arizona are 2-9 in their last 11 road games and are 7-19 in their last 26 overall while the Diamondbacks are 7-19 in their last 26 games on grass. The Dodgers are 22-7 in their last 29 home games and are 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games while the under is 37-14 in their last 51 home games. The Diamondbacks are 17-40 in the last 57 meetings. I’ll back the Dodgers who are now a factor in the West…
