The Line: Miami Marlins -109 / St. Louis Cardinals -101 --- Over/Under: 8.5 See the Latest Odds

The St. Louis Cardinals look to build on their big 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins yesterday as they meet up again in Florida on Friday.

The Cards got a huge win last night and while they tried their best to give away an early lead they held on for the victory and will look to parlay that into another solid effort on Friday after taking down Jose Fernandez. Michael Wacha had one of his best outings of the season and while he got knocked around a bit mid way through the game he started off very well and earned the victory setting the stage for a show down between Mike Leake and Jose Urena on Friday. The Cards are making some noise in the NL Central and will likely add a piece or two at the deadline as they could use another arm in the rotation and potentially another bat as they have to contend with the Chicago Cubs among others in the division race.

The Marlins meanwhile have cooled off a bit of late after making a push into a wild card spot and while they are likely to stick around and compete for a playoff spot until the last game of the season they have to shake off some cobwebs and get back in this series with the Cards. The Fish will look to continue their recent dominance over the NL Central as they are 17-5 in their last 22 outings against one of the best divisions in baseball and this could be the spot to climb back in as Leake isn’t the greatest of options on the mound.

The Cards are 13-3 in their last 16 games against a righty, 7-3 in their last 10 overall, and 2-5 in Leake’s last seven starts while the Marlins are 11-5 in their last 16 overall, 1-6 in Urena’s last seven and 8-3 in their last 11 at home. St. Louis is coming off a nice win yesterday but the Marlins had all of the momentum late and I think they carry that over into a big win today and even the series.
