The Oakland Athletics have suddenly caught fire and are within reach of the .500 mark. The Athletics had won five of six before cooling off for a night in a 5-3 loss at Cleveland on Friday. A’s starter Kendall Graveman fell to 7-7 with four runs plated (three earned) on six hits over 6.1 frames. Oakland produced seven hits and three free passes with Josh Riddick and Khris Davis slamming solo homers. Rookie Dillon Overton makes his 4th career start when he takes the hill at Cleveland. In his three starts, Overton has gone 1-1 with a 1.93 WHIP and 8.40 ERA over 15 innings.

The Cleveland Indians have cooled off and that has left them vulnerable in the American League Central. The Indians had lost four of five and were desperate for a win and came up big against a team that- gives them problems. Tribe starter Trevor Bauer allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits including two homers through 5.1 innings before four relievers put up zeros. Cleveland managed eight hits and four walks with Carlos Santana going solo and scoring twice while Abraham Almonte drove in a run and scored. The Indians send Josh Tomlin to the hill to meet the Athletics for the first time since 2014. Tomlin comes off a 5-2 defeat at Baltimore where he gave up four runs on seven hits in six frames.
