The Houston Astros shoot for a win at the Detroit Tigers in Saturday action.
The Houston Astros have closed the gap on the Rangers in the American League West but have no wiggle room. The Astros had won five of seven before their pitching struggled to get outs in a 14-6 loss at Detroit on Friday night. Stros starter Collin McHugh was charged with eight runs on ten hits over 1.2 frames to drop to 7-7 with three relievers allowing six runs. Houston mustered seven hits and three BB with Jake Marisnick going deep and scoring twice with Jose Altuve slugging a two run bomb while Colby Rasmus drove in two. The Astros have scheduled Mike Fiers for Saturday’s start at the Tigers. Fiers comes off of a 13-3 victory versus the Angels with all three runs allowed on nine hits over seven innings.
