The Line: Miami Marlins / St. Louis Cardinals --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The St. Louis Cardinals look to stay red hot after an 11-6 win in Miami yesterday as they continue their series against the Marlins on Saturday.
The Cards have gone 7-3 in their last 10 ball games and are suddenly surging in the NL wild card race as they continue their road trip in south Florida on Saturday with Jaime Garcia slated to get the start. The Cards haven’t quite lived up to expectation this season as they have become a perennial contender over the last decade plus but they are still kicking around and if they can add a piece at the trade deadline they could very well create some waves in the National League and could even make a push to chase down the Chicago Cubs.

The Marlins meanwhile are still in the mix in the NL East and made some moves yesterday to indicate they are all in as they acquired Andrew Cashner and tonight’s slated starter Colin Rea from the San Diego Padres. Miami has had issues with their starting pitching beyond Joe Fernandez and if they’re going to make a push to the playoffs they needed to add some pieces to the middle of their rotation and that is exactly what they have done. The Fish still have some work to do though and will look to shake off a tough loss last night as they get a second crack at the Cards in this one.
The Cardinals are 5-1 in their last six road games, 18-6 in their last 24 games against a righty, and 8-3 in their last 11 overall while the Marlins are 11-3 in their last 14 against the NL Central and 10-3 in their last 13 home games against a lefty. The Cards are red hot right now and while Rea has been decent for the Padres he will be getting adjusted here and I think St. Louis stays hot with a win tonight.
