The Colorado Rockies look to stay red hot as they continue their series at Citi Field against the New York Mets on Sunday.
The Colorado Rockies are suddenly surging and are one of the hottest teams in baseball as they are 9-1 in their last 10 games and have closed the gap in the NL wild card race to just four games. The Rockies were considered an afterthought for most of the year as they were expected to be heavy sellers at the trade deadline but their recent surge has them back in the mix and could force their hand into keeping the likes of Boone Logan and Carlos Gonzalez as their rebuild has been put on hold. The Rockies will be in tough today though as they have to deal with Noah Syndergaard who is looking to get the Mets back in the mix in the NL East as they currently trail the Washington Nationals by 7.5 games.

The Mets have been one of the bigger disappointments this season as they are coming off an NL pennant and berth in the World Series last year and returned a pretty stellar rotation led by Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom. However, the Mets have stumbled and while they were once considered a shoe in to make the playoffs they have since fallen out of postseason spot altogether and run the risk of missing out if they can’t right the ship. Luckily for them they get one of the best pitchers in baseball going today and while the Rockies have been lights out of late the Mets are the heavy favourites as a result.
The Rockies are 7-0 in their last seven against the NL East, 5-0 in their last five overall, and 4-0 in their last four following a win while the Mets are 0-5 in their last five against he NL West, 6-1 in Syndergaard’s last seven Sunday starts, and 1-4 in his last five against the NL West. The Mets desperately need a win here and with Thor on the mound I think they get it done as they snap Colorado’s winning streak.
