The Line: Los Angeles Angels / Oakland Athletics --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Oakland Athletics open a road series with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.
The Oakland Athletics appeared to be catching fire with wins in five of six before cooling off with three straight losses at Cleveland. The Athletics had nothing go their way in an 8-0 loss to the Indians Sunday with starter Sonny Gray charged with seven runs on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls in 3.1 frames to drop his record to 5-10. The A’s mustered dix hits and three walks with Yonder Alonso going 2-4 while Max Muncy singled and walked. Left hander Sean Manaea is slated to be on the mound for game one of the series at the Angels. Manaea has been at his best the past three times out with a 0.97 WHIP and 1.24 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Angels have struggled to string wins together throughout the year and took a painful 5-3 loss from the visiting Red Sox Sunday with a five run 9th. Angels starter Tyler Skaggs tossed 5.1 shutout innings before Huston Street gave up five runs on four hits including two homers for the BS and loss. Great job and an idiotic managerial decision to leave him in the game. The LAA pounded out eleven hits with Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Jery Marte driving in runs. Matt Shoemaker toes the rubber against the visiting Athletics for the third time this year. Shoemaker comes off of a 7-5 loss at Kansas City with five runs given up on eight hits in six frames.
The under is 6-2-1 in Oakland’s last 9 overall and is 6-2-1 in their last 9 on grass while the over is 13-6 in their last 19 Tuesday games. The Angels are 8-2 in their last 10 home games and the over is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Tuesday games while Los Angeles are 5-15 in Shoemakers last 20 home starts. The over is 5-2-1 in Shoemaker’s last 8 starts versus Oakland. The Angels seem to play better at home so I’ll back them…
