The Pittsburgh Pirates look to keep their postseason hopes alive with a win at the Atlanta Braves Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are competing for the Wild Card but have to begin stringing wins together. The Pirates picked up a 5-3 victory at Atlanta Tuesday to snap a three game skid. Buccos starter Gerrit Cole allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits over five frames to get the win. The Pitt offense did their damage on five hits and six walks with Adam Frazier driving in two runs while Matt Joyce drove in a run and scored. The Pirates hand the ball to Jeff Locke for Wednesday’s start at the Braves. Locke has been struggling the past three times out with a 1-1 record with a 2.25 WHIP and 9.75 ERA.

The Atlanta Braves know they are going anywhere in 2016 so they are looking towards 2017 and beyond. The Braves struggled on the mound and failed to get the big hit with runners on base. Bravos starter Mike Foltynewicz was charged with all five runs on four hits and three walks through 5.1 innings to fall to 4-4. Atlanta posted ten hits and walked four times with Nick Markakis going 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s with AJ Pierzynski logging two hits and knocking in a run. Atlanta has yet to name a starter and might go with a pitcher by committee.
The over is 20-7-1 in Pittsburgh’s last 28 Wednesday games and is 8-0 in Locke’s last 8 Wednesday starts while going 21-6-4 in Locke’s last 31 road starts. Atlanta are 16-38 in their last 54 home games and the Pirates are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. Please check back when Atlanta names a starter…
