The St. Louis Cardinals continue their series at Great American Ball Park versus the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday.

The St. Louis Cardinals don’t appear  to have the firepower to catch the Cubs in the National League Central so they have to focus on the Wild Card. The Cardinals took a step back in a 7-5 defeat at Cincinnati Tuesday for their third loss in a row. Cards starter Adam Wainwright gave up two runs over five frames with Seung Hwan Oh blowing the save and getting the loss with three runs plated. The Redbirds totaled ten hits and three BB with Brandon Moss, Tommy Phan, Adam Wainwright and Jedd Gyorko each going deep. Michael Wacha is scheduled to oppose Cincinnati for the second time in 2016 on Wednesday. On the season Wacha has gone 6-7 in 21 starts with a 1.40 WHIP and 4.38 ERA.

Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals - 8/3/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds have been playing well although it’s too deep in to the season to change their fortunes. The Reds continued to play well with Tuesday’s victory with their 8t win in eleven contests. Cinci starter Dan Straily allowed two runs through six innings with Blake Wood surrendering a pair of solo homers to blow the save. Cincinnati logged eleven hits and walked six times with T_ucker Barnhart, Adam Duvall and Scott Schebler clubbing homers and driving in six. Rookie Cody Reed makes his 8th start of the season and first ever against rival St. Louis. Reed  is still looking for his first win and is 0-5 with a 1.79 WHIP and 7.07 ERA.

The Cardinals are 16-7 in their last 23 road games and are 25-12 in their last 37 Wednesday games. While the over is 20-5-1 in Wacha’s last 26 road starts. The over is 14-6-2 in Cincinnati’s last 22 Wednesday games and the Reds  are 7-3 in their last 10 overall while going 7-3 in their last 10 games on grass. St. Louis are 8-2 in their last 10 meetings. The numbers say St. Louis but I think I’ll pass…
