The Subway series continues with the New York Mets visiting the New York Yankees.
The New York Mets need a prolonged winning streak to position themselves for a Wild Card. The winning streak will have to wait another day to start following a 9-5 defeat at the Yankees. Mets starter Steven Matz was charged with six runs on six hits over six frames with Hansel Robles gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning. The NYM posted ten hits and walked five times with Curtis Granderson and Neil Walker going deep and scoring twice each while James Loney drove in two runs. Veteran Bartolo Colon looks to reestablish the consistency he enjoyed early in the season. Colon comes off of a 7-2 loss to Colorado with five runs given up on seven hits over five innings.

The New York Yankees made several trades at the deadline which essentially meant they are looking to 2017. The Yankees had dropped five of six before the bats and bullpen came to the rescue Wednesday. NYY starter Chad Green gave up three runs on eight hits and four BB through 3.2 innings with Luis Severino allowing an unearned run over 4.1 innings to get the win. The Bronx Bombers logged nine hits and walked four times with Mark Texiero going deep and driving in three with three runs scored while Chase Headley and Didi Gregorius knocking in two runs apiece. The Yankees are scheduled to send Nathan Eovaldi to the hill to face the Mets Thursday. Eovaldi has been hot the past three times out with a 2-1 record and 3.00 ERA.
The under is 12-3-1 in the Mets last 16 road games and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 interleague road games while going 19-9 in their last 28 interleague games. The under is 5-0-3 in the Yankees last 8 Thursday games and is 12-3 in their last 15 on grass while going 18-6-3 in the Yankees last 27 home games. The over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings and the Mets are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings. Colon has been up and down and hopefully he’s down Thursday…
