The Milwaukee Brewers visit Chase Field to open a series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Milwaukee Brewers have long been out of contention in the National League Central race although they have been playing well the past several weeks with wins in seven of ten. The Brewers did take one on the chin in a 12-3 defeat at San Diego Wednesday where nothing went favorably. Brew Crew starter Junior Guerra was charged with four runs over four frames to fall to 7-3 while Jhan Marinez and David Goforth allowed seven runs between them. Milwaukee totaled nine hits with Ryan Braun going 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Scooter Gennett drove in a run and scored. The Brewers kick off the series at Chase Field with Chase Anderson on the mound. Anderson comes off a 5-3 win versus Pittsburgh where he allowed an unearned run over five innings.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been out of the National League West race for quite awhile with neither the arms or bats being able to get on the same page. The Diamondbacks have dropped eight of ten following an 8-3 loss to visiting Washington on Wednesday. D-Backs starter Zack Godley allowed four runs through six innings with Jake Barrett giving up four more. The Snakes were held to five hits and a base on balls with Jake Lamb and Yasmany Tomas smacking solo homers while Brandon Drury drove in David Peralta. Rookie Braden Shipley makes his third career start and second start against the Brewers. Shipley lost his debut 7-2 to the Brewers with six runs scoring on eight hits including three homers in 5.1 frames.
Milwaukee are 7-18 in their last 25 road games and are 2-7 in Anderson’s last 9 road starts while the over is 5-2-1 in Anderson’s last 8 starts on grass. The over is 6-1-1 in Arizona’s last 8 games following a loss and is 13-3 in their last 16 home games while the Diamondbacks are 7-25 in their last 32 overall. I’ll take a shot with the rookie but if I bet this game I don’t know if I could watch it…
