We’ve got some intriguing MLB action headed our way Sunday, as the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox finish out their series from US Cellular Field.
The Orioles took the opener of this series 7-5, and on Saturday in game two the White Sox came out with a 4-2 win.
USA TODAY Sports
On the mound for the Orioles on Sunday will be RHP Dylan Bundy. In his 26 games (four starts) and 4-3 record, Bundy has managed a 3.05 ERA With a 1.29 WHIP in 59 innings. Bundy got a solid win in his last start, with one hit and no runs in seven innings for a win over the Rangers.
At the plate, there are some interesting Baltimore hitters to look at. Manny Machado has hit 128 times with 73 runs, 22 homers and 60 RBI. Jonathan Schoop has 118 hits with 59 runs, 17 homers and 59 RBI. Mark Trumbo holds 115 hits with 61 runs, 31 homers and 77 RBI.
Over on the White Sox side, we’ll be seeing James Shields once again. In his 22 starts and 5-13 record this year, Shields owns a 4.92 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP in 128 innings. Shields was beat up in his last start in Detroit for nine hits and six runs in five innings for a loss.
Chicago boasts a few pretty nifty bats in their order. Melky Cabrera has logged 120 hits with 46 runs and 51 RBI. Jose Abreu holds 114 hits with 39 runs, 13 homers and 59 RBI. As for Adam Eaton, he has 116 hits with 52 runs and 38 RBI.
The Orioles are 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games, and 4-2 in their last six overall. Baltimore is also 3-8 in their last 11 road games and 2-6 in their last eight against a team with a losing record.
As for Chicago, they’re 3-7 in their last 10 Sunday games and 2-5 in their last seven game threes of a series. The White Sox are also 1-4 in Shields’ last five starts, and 1-4 in Shields’ last five starts on grass.
I have little confidence in Shields right now, so I’ll take the Orioles and Bundy here.
