The New York Mets look to cool off the red hot Detroit Tigers in Sunday interleague action.
The New York Mets are third in the National League East and need wins to stay in the Wild Card conversation. The Mets instead continued to slide in a 6-5 defeat at Detroit Saturday. NYM starter Logan Verrett was charged with all six runs on seven hits and a pair of BB over just 3.2 frames. New York amassed 14 hits and three walks with Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce going deep while Wilmer Flores knocked in two and Ty Kelly scored twice. Jacob deGrom gets the ball in the final game of the series at Comerica Park on Sunday. DeGrom has not allowed a run in his last 14 innings with nine hits allowed covering two starts.

The Detroit Tigers are really putting the pressure on the Indians for the lead in the American League Central. The Tigers continue to be the hottest team in baseball and have won ten of eleven following Saturday night’s victory. Detroit starter Matt Boyd gave up three runs on six hits including a pair of long balls before Justin Wilson gave up two (one earned). The Tigers totaled ten hits and for walks with Miguel Cabrera knocking in three while Jarrod Saltlamacchia knocked in two and scored. Anibal Sanchez shoots for back to back victories against the Mets who he sees for the first time since 2011. Sanchez comes off of an 11-5 win versus the White Sox with a run scored in six frames.
The under is 10-3 in the Mets last 13 Sunday games and is 19-7-1 in their last 27 road games while New York are 3-7 in their last 10 overall. Detroit are 9-1 in their last 10 overall and are 9-1 in their last 10 games on grass while the over is 9-2 in their last 11 interleague home games. I don’t care for Sanchez and don’t care for the way the Mets are playing so this game is awful to me…
